Section 1 – Research Questions

Primary research Questions:

Have you heard of Global Warming?

Subtopic Questions:

To what extent are you impressed with the problem of Global Warming?

Do you think Global Warming will change the topography of the planet?

Are you interested in knowing the effects of the Global Warming?
Section 2 – Background Report Summary

This background report describes global warming and climate change which affect health and weather. Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate. Firstly I will look at the causes of global warming and describe it to know how we can avoid it. Also I will look at effects and describe them.
First of all, there are many causes of global warming and one of these causes is human activities by clearing forests that releases large amounts of carbon dioxide. Worldwide deforestation means we don’t have as many trees to absorb the extra carbon dioxide. This means more of it stays in the atmosphere, trapping more heat. Also greenhouse gases: when we extract and burn fossil fuels such as coal or petroleum, we cause the release of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping “greenhouse gases” into the atmosphere.
However there are many effects of global warming. Global warming can affect the weather and create more storms. Global warming also affects temperature and the average of the temperature increases and that makes cold winters and hot summers.

Section 3 – Questionnaire Results

It’s so important to know how the people care about Global Warming, but after we saw the results of the survey and we compared it with the number of the people who answered the survey questions it seems like people have a good awareness about the Global Warming problem.
In the first section, we asked them  scientific questions about global warming then we did a second indirect section; we asked them their opinions and if they’re interested to know more information.
The questions started with “Have you heard about global warming?” 25 people answered the question directly with yes. “To what extent are you impressed with the problem of Global Warming?” 10% answered with good and weak, 80% answered with average. “Do you think Global Warming will change the topography of the planet?” 10% answered with no and the other 90% answered with yes. “Do you expect increased flooding as a result of Global Warming?” 88% of them choose yes, 12% choose no. 96% of the people are interested to know about the effects of the Global Warming and 4% are not. “Do you think Global Warming will affect our health?” 80% think that it will affect and 20% answered with no. Also 96% have plans to avoid Global Warming and 4% don’t have any.

Section 4 – Discussion

As the result of the survey questionnaire that was distributed to 25 students attending Abu Dhabi Men’s College,  we noticed that many students have good awareness about the global warming and how it can affect the world badly, and some students have good solutions for this problem that can help the world. However, there is still a big number of students who want to know more about the results that global warming can cause to earth. We have to make more lectures for different ages of people to let them know exactly what it is and what can do to earth if we did not care about this issue. Gladly, those people would like to know about the problem and its effects on the world.

Finally, people should know how badly the global warming affect the earth and be wises when it comes to the solutions; also they need to work to save earth from any danger so they live peacefully.

Research Proposal (CLO 1)

Research Proposal title: Global Warming

Introduction

This background report describes global warming and climate change which affect health and weather. I will first look at the causes of global warming and describe it to know how we can avoid it. Finally, I will discuss the effects of global warming in health and weather.

I believe this topic is important to students around the world because global warming affects the lives of human beings, plants, and affects the weather.

Background report

Causes:

(1)    Human activities:

Clearing forests also releases large amounts of carbon dioxide. On top of that, plants and trees use it to grow. Worldwide deforestation means we don’t have as many trees to absorb the extra carbon dioxide.
This means more of it stays in the atmosphere, trapping more heat.

(2)    Greenhouse gases:

When we extract and burn fossil fuels such as coal or petroleum, we cause the release of carbon dioxide carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping “greenhouse gases” into the atmosphere.

Affects:

(1)    Weather:

Global warming can effect in weather and create more storms.

(2)    Increased temperature:

Global warming also affects temperature and the average of the temperature increases and that makes cold winters and hot summers.

Proposal for research

The topic of global warming is highly important for people around the world to know the causes and the effects of global warming to avoid it. There is very little doubt that global warming will change our climate in the next century.

I believe my own research on the global warming will help to answer these questions. In order to do this I will make a questionnaire for students attending Abu Dhabi Men’s College.
